“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child.” ~ Forest Witcraft
Last April 23-24, 2015, the Marikina Convention Center was alive with the laughter, singing and cheers of an overwhelming audience of more than 700 preschool and elementary school teachers.
Passion, service and love. These were the three values that stood out the most at our two-day seminar. We learn of these from different instances in the event
We met with teachers who arrived as early as 5:30 am even though registration time began at 7am. Some even travelling from places as far as Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Baguio to attend the seminar.
We were also inspired by the sight of more than 700 participants tirelessly joining in the singing, dancing and role-playing throughout the event. It was even more inspiring to learn of teachers share their reason for being in their chosen profession.
Our energy as events organizers was also rooted from working with many partners and sponsors who supported the event. We give our heartfelt thanks to our guest speakers and authors who took time to prepare their presentations and share their expertise during their talks. We were also very fortunate to have worked with young volunteers who were either new teachers or teachers-in-training who willingly helped out to make the participants more comfortable.
On this final day of Teacher Appreciation Week, we look back at the event and our own classroom experiences, and become truly thankful for the sacrifice and love that our teachers have given us and the students we now serve.
What an honor it is to work alongside “heroes” (as one participating teacher said of her fellow teachers) especially on this task of educating the youth. We are comforted in knowing that we have plenty of help even beyond the 700 participants we met at the event.
They say that it takes a village to raise a child. With that being said, St. Matthew’s Publishing Corporation thanks all teachers for being a part of this village of educators and supporters of our country’s young learners.
